FATHER CHESTER P. SNYDER
EDUCATIONAL AWARD INFORMATION

Explanation: This scholarship is a $500.00 award provided by the Knights of Columbus Council #12788
for students who are members of St. Joseph’s School from grades 6 – 8.

Eligibility: The applicant must be any student of St. Joseph Parish within grades 6 through 8 who has a
minimum GPA of 3.0 or a “B” average at the time of submission for the 2017 – 2018 school year.

Scholarship Rules:

1. The awards will go directly to the student’s school tuition account.
2. The scholarship application must be filled out in its entirety.
3. The service portion area is to be used to chronologically timeline only your parish and community
activities starting with the most recent. When specifying dates (just providing a month and year will
suffice), give a detailed description of the function along with the duration of the service.
4. The service portion can be hand written (neatness counts) or computer-generated.
5. The applicant’s name must be written on the back side of the service sheet and last page of the
application.
6. Applications are available on the Council’s website www.council12788.org, which can be filled out
electronically and then printed for submission. Applications are also located in the church pamphlet
racks or St. Joseph’s School and Parish Office.
7. The application must be delivered to the Council’s mailbox by end of the day (church office
closing) on October 31, 2017. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Application Scoring:

All applications will be lettered meaning the scoring committee will not know the applicant’s name. The scholarship committee will review the applications for completeness and accuracy. There will be three categories being scored: the quality of the application, parish activities, and community activities. The student with the highest score will be awarded the scholarship. In case of a tie score, the award will be divided equally between the two students. Students who are sons/daughters of Council 12788 Knights/Columbiettes or are Squires/Squirettes will receive 5 bonus points.
